Man steals 2 cars from same woman in 2 days

DELTA TWP – A Lexus sedan was stolen Friday from a gas station in Delta Township. The woman who owns the car had lent it to her son, said Sgt. Cindy Johnson with the Michigan State Police Lansing Post.

The following day, she was driving a rented SUV when she spotted her stolen car at a Quality Dairy on Lansing Road near Dimondale.

She parked, blocking in her stolen sedan. She got out the SUV and into her stolen Lexus. But police believe she left the SUV running.

When the suspect, 18-year-old Jaysean Porter, exited the store and found the victim inside her car, he bolted for the SUV and fled the scene in it, Johnson said.

Porter was stopped by MSP troopers near Paw Paw, roughly 85 miles away, later that day.

Porter was arranged in Eaton County District Court on Monday and charged with unlawfully driving away a motor vehicle and carjacking.
