The Jubilee Performing Arts Conservatory will host the vocally dynamic cast of “Selma the Musical: The Untold Stories” in a one-night, free concert 6:30-8 Sunday.
The cast is also visiting area churches to promote the concert. Families, arts communities, schools and churches are asked to come out and support it.
Mississippi-based playwright, director and producer Jana Paige Haynes features local talent in the production. JPAC alums Javonn Davis and Chiara Pittman-Lewis and Antonette Quinn are on-stage characters.
“Selma the Musical” is an award-winning, historical fiction production that has been featured on “Good Morning America” and “Sway in the Morning.”
As a result of touring over the past few months, the cast has been offered a residency at one of the most innovative and successful theaters in Brooklyn, N.Y. They will spend the next weeks there finalizing a multi-week run of the show, with an opportunity to take the Broadway stage.
Through the concert, the cast is fundraising for this new venture in New York. The overall fundraising goal is $15,000. Donations may be given through: Cash App – $jpaige31; PayPal – PayPal.me/selmathemusicalus; or Venmo – @Jana-Haynes.
