iPhone Xr radically shakes up the colour pallet of the Apple product line
iPhone Xr was shown off by Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, on the stage of the Steve Jobs Theatre where he detailed the features and capabilities of the new hardware.
Following its reveal, journalists and influencers alike gathered around a demo area where they swarmed to the new product that is available in a multitude of colours.
Express.co.uk has also been lucky enough to have a first look at this new smartphone and the iPhone Xr is certainly an intriguing prospect.
Here is why it could be the most popular Apple smartphone this year.
Futuristic all-screen design
The iPhone Xr brings the incredible all-screen design first introduced with the iPhone X last year but delivers it at a price point that is more accessible than ever.
Just like the iPhone Xs and Xs Max, the home button has been stripped away in favour of Apple’s secure Face ID technology that is used as the primary way to unlock the device.
And unlike the iPhone 5c that attempted to replicate such a tantalising premise, the iPhone Xr looks and feels premium.
The budget smartphone intricately melds glass and brushed aluminium to deliver a phone as noteworthy as previous Apple flagships.
Thanks to the radically reduced bezels, Apple has been able to fit a 6.1-inch display into a footprint that is smaller than previous iPhone Plus devices.
That means users will not have an uncomfortable time managing the product during usage periods.
The display does not feature the OLED technology present in the iPhone Xs or Xs Max models, but it does boast enough clarity that make the phone extremely functional for a variety of Apple fans.
Diverse colour selection
iPhone Xr radically shakes up the colour pallet of the product line and is available in a score of different finishes.
The hardware comes in white, black, blue, yellow, coral and red models that each look unique and will be appealing to different customers.
Such choice will surely be embraced by Apple fans who are eager to break away from the more limited colour schemes that have been present in iPhones since the 5c debuted back in 2013.
As internally capable as the iPhone Xs and Xs Max
iPhone Xr starts at £749 and although this price tag appears much cheaper than the iPhone Xs and Xs Max, the internals of the hardware have not been compromised as a result.
In fact, the iPhone Xr flaunts the same A12 Bionic chip as the iPhone Xs and Xs Max, meaning it should absolutely scream through any tasks the user can throw at it.
Apple was eager to detail the capabilities of its newest chip during its September 12 hardware event.
A12 is a 7nanometer chip, which means it is smaller than others used in rival flagships.
It promises to be more efficient while also using less power than previous processors.

Incredible camera promise
Although the iPhone Xr features a single camera sensor instead of a dual-lens setup in the iPhone Xs and Xs Max, it is still incredibly capable.
That is because the main sensor is exactly the same as present in its more expensive brothers.
iPhone Xr boasts a 12 megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation but Apple is insisting its new algorithms will allow for some of the best pictures taken on a smartphone yet.
The American tech giant declared its “Smart HDR” technology will introduce better highlights and more detail for shadows in snaps.
Meanwhile, the iPhone Xr also boasts bokeh and depth control, this means after a Portrait mode shot has been taken users are able to adjust it to their personal preference.

Apple’s latest operating system, iOS 12, comes pre-installed on iPhone Xr.
That means everyone that picks up the device can instantly jump into FaceTime calls with up to 32 people at once.
And they can harness the hardware’s TrueDepth front-facing camera to have fun with Animoji.
In iOS 12 new characters have arrived, meaning users can now place themselves in the bodies of a koala, tiger, ghost or T. rex.
One of the biggest features on the new software comes with new notifications however.
Now alerts are grouped by application, meaning they are easier to manage than ever before on an Apple device.
