Mr DIY stores offer 20,000 product varieties across nine departments – household, hardware, electrical, car accessories, toys, stationery, gifts, sports as well as jewellery and cosmetics – which are available on the online store too.
Mr DIY marketing and e-commerce head Andy Chin said the e-commerce platform marked yet another milestone for the company, pointing to another progression that was in-keeping with the times and a pioneer in the way business was conducted in this region.
“With the e-commerce platform, we will be able to cater to a diversified market of tech-savvy individual, who never had time or interest to visit physical stores.
“It also provides a solution for shoppers with limited mobility and those who need to buy in bulk or make urgent purchases,” he said at the launch at Intercontinental Hotel.
He said the company had four major goals in 2018, two of which had been achieved – the opening of its first flagship store in MidValley Megamall and the latest online platform.
“We will be expanding our reach to Singapore and the Philippines in the third and fourth quarter of this year respectively.
“Also, we are looking to open 300 new stores across Asia-Pacific including Thailand, Brunei and Indonesia,” he said, adding that the retail chain is targeting RM1bil in revenue for Malaysia this year.
Currently, there are more than 550 Mr DIY stores across the Asia- Pacific region.
Also present at the launch was Mr DIY’s brand ambassador Adibah Noor, a familiar face in the retailer’s advertisements since 2017.
