MUMBAI: Sports management firm IOS Sports & Entertainment has signed Hima Das as its client. As part of the multi-crore two-year contract, IOS will manage all the commercial interests of 18-year old Das, who hails from Dhing village in Assam’s Nagaon district.

IOS will exclusively manage her brand endorsements, off-field engagements and investments.

Das recently created history by winning the Gold medal in women’s 400-metre event at the IAAF World U-20 Championships held at Tampere, Finland. She clocked 51.46 seconds in the finals at the Ratina Stadium to become the first Indian athlete to win Gold in a world championship across all age groups.

“I was looking for a professional sports management group to manage my commercial interests, as I only want to focus on my training and championships,” Das said.

IOS also manages boxers MC Mary Kom and Vijender Singh, and Commonwealth Games gold medalists Manika Batra and Mirabai Chanu among others.

“I am delighted about our latest signing,” said Neerav Tomar, MD & CEO, IOS Sports & Entertainment. “Hima has tremendous potential and we would work towards building her image and looking after her commercial interests. We already have a lot of interest coming in from brands and I am sure with the Asian Games around the corner, there would be more buzz around her.”

Daughter of a rice-farmer, Das started her career in 2012 and performed well at district level competitions. In early 2016, she won the 100 meters race at the state championships and later at year made to the finals of Junior Athletics Championship in Coimbatore without any training. After some time she shifted to the sports academy in Guwahati.
