Fortnite on Mobile has given players yet another way to enjoy the Battle Royale, which is about to see another massive launch this month.
Season 5 is just around the corner and will kick off a whole new battle pass of content, as well as usher in new map changes.
Currently, Fortnite Mobile is only available on iOS, which has already proven a massive success for Epic Games.
But if what the development team has said in the past rings true, we could see the Fortnite Android release date fall during season 5 too.
Epic Games have said in the past that they hope to launch Fortnite on Android devices during summer 2018.
With that period in mind, it seems pretty likely that this will coincide with the Fortnite Android release.
Season 5 will run for just over ten weeks, which will cover nearly the whole summer period.
However, It’s not entirely guaranteed as Summer traditionally runs until September 23.
There’s a chance that Epic Games could wait until the official launch of Season 6 to incorporate Android players into Battle Royale.
But looking at it from a purely technical view, this would seem like a tough choice for Epic Games to make.
Apart from the fact that fans have been waiting a long time to start playing on their Android phones, there’s also the fact that the end of seasons can also see the most server traffic.
Players are busy completing their battle passes so they don’t miss out on the top cosmetic items.
There’s also the fact that Epic Games like to run big crossover events near the end of seasons too.
Plonking a brand new platform during this time of hype would certainly help to create a lot more server strain.
There’s currently no guarantee on when Epic Games will begin the release rollout, although many expect some kind of beta period.
This was done with the iOS platform and will probably be needed for Android as a way to control bug problems and server surges.
If you log into your Epic account and look to sign up to the mobile platform, there’s a current list of phones you can choose from.
The current list includes:
- Google Pixel 2 / XL
- Huawei Mate 10 / Pro / Lite
- Huawei Mate 9 / Pro
- Huawei P10 / P10 Plus / P10 Lite
- Huawei P9 / P9 Lite
- Huawei P8 Lite 2017
- LG G6
- LG V30 / V30+
- Motorola Moto E4 Plus
- Moto G5
- Moto Z2 Play
- Nokia 6
- Razer Phone
- Samsung Galaxy A5, A7, J7 Prime, Pro, Note 8, S7, S8, S9
- Xperia XA1, XZ, XZ1
That’s a wide range of phones, but it doesn’t include every make or even a wide selection of tablets.
There is an option below that where you can choose “Android Other” which gives some hope that more devices will be announced.
But something that’s even better news is that Epic Games themselves have recently stated that they haven’t released the official list of devices yet.
The earliest date for a Fortnite Mobile release this summer is in late July, although the wait could technically last until late September.
When the announcement is made for a solid release date, fans can probably expect a list of available devices to be announced as well.
Fans will be hoping to hear more about the Android release in the coming weeks, during Season 5 of the famous Battle Royale game.
