There’s a new smartphone app approved by the state that allows motorists to keep their driver’s license on their phones.

“LA Wallet” gives people the option to download their Louisiana driver’s license onto their phone, protecting them in case they leave it at home.

It’s 100 percent legal for driving purposes, but it can only be used for traffic stops or checkpoints, state officials said. It’s not approved for airport security, nor alcohol for tobacco sales.
