Shooting on Natalie Street

The charge against a man who allegedly shot and killed his ex-girlfriend during a live stream on Facebook has been upgraded to first-degree murder.

Johnathan Tremaine Robinson, 36, of Shreveport, previously was charged with second-degree murder. A Caddo Parish grand jury on Wednesday indicted him on a charge of  first-degree murder in conncection with the April 12 slaying of Rannita Williams, according to a news release from the Caddo District Attorney’s Office.

Robinson also faces seven counts of attempted first-degree murder, related to shots he allegedly fired at police officers outside the house in which Williams was killed.

Robinson allegedly held Williams hostage inside her home at 1301 Natalie St. as he fired shots at police officers — and at Williams. The standoff with law enforcement lasted nearly 80 minutes. One shot struck one officer in the wrist.

In the Facebook Live video, Robinson forced Williams to apologize. The Times reported on the contents of the video in April.

“Now apologize, bitch,” Robinson yells as the camera flips around to Williams.

“Hey, y’all this NuNu,” Rannita says to the camera.

She then begins to apologize for going “live” on an unknown woman, although it’s unclear exactly what she means. She says her page has been blocked. Another woman can be heard on speaker phone. It’s unclear what the other woman is saying.

After firing several shots, Robinson returns to the home.

“Stop, Johnathan,” Williams says. “Stop, Johnathan.”

The phone then appears to tumble to the floor. The screen shows the ceiling — and a shadow of a person holding a gun.

Three more cracks are heard.

Robinson then appears to fire another shot out the door.

“Now, bitch. Game over,” he says as he stands over the phone. “Game over.”

Robinson turns off the phone.

The district attorney soon will decide whether the death penalty will be sought against Robinson, according to the release. Robinson’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 19.
