Samsung’s Odyssey (about $400) offers the most features and best design of all the Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) headsets. It has the highest resolution at 1,440 x 1,600, it has a 110-degree field of view (FOV), and it has up to a 90Hz refresh rate. If that wasn’t enough, the built-in AKG headphones push it over the edge.

Bottom line: The Samsung Odyssey offers the best WMR experience.

One more thing: The Odyssey bundle includes two standard WMR motion controllers.

Why the Samsung Odyssey is the best Windows Mixed Reality headset

The Samsung Odyssey has the highest-res display of all the WMR headsets, its FOV is matched only by the Dell visor, and it has the standard maximum refresh rate of 90Hz. It also uses AMOLED technology rather than LCD for better contrast and color.

The headset has a svelte black finish that looks closer to an Oculus Rift than anything else, and it has the adjustable halo headband that allows you to quickly get a comfortable fit. Unlike the other headsets, however, the Odyssey features built-in AKG headphones, meaning you no longer have to deal with the extra cable and bulk of your own solution.

You can grab a headset and motion controller bundle for about $400; this is the priciest option right now, but you get what you pay for.

Conclusion

There are in total six different WMR headsets to choose from, but Samsung remains at the top, Dell’s Visor is a close second, and while the budget picks will no doubt fluctuate depending on who’s having a sale, Lenovo is a solid choice.
